I wish I could find a link to a clear statement, but I don't think one
exists. The historical policy is that QFE support ends when the N+2 release
ships, but that other support continues for a few years after that. But the
SQL Server group has not been adhering to the N+2 policy, extending QFE
support well beyond the release of N+2. So SQL Server 2000 RTM'd in the
summer of 2000, but QFE support for 6.5 continued until the end of 2001.
And telephone support for 6.5 continues to this day. Indeed, I believe that
the support guys still take calls on 6.0 and even 4.21A.

For SQL Server 7.0 this would mean that the earliest you'd lose QFE support
would be the shipment of "Yukon", but more likely you'd have a year past the
"Yukon" release.

There may be a more formal "new" policy in place by now, but I haven't seen
it.
