Author Need to monitor activity on an offsite server

I want to simulate database activity resulting from the use of an
application on a production server.

This is what I plan to do

1. Set up a server identical to the production server
2. Backup the master and user database.
3. Capture a replayable trace of the production server for a period of time.
4. Restore the backups on the offline server
5. Replay the trace
6. Use another trace to capture suitable events during replay

Any comments?

Dear Rohit,

Could you please explain the target of the step 6? What does the 'suitable
events' mean?
In the step 6, if you run another trace on the SQL Server which is running
the replay operation, it can only trace the replay operation, not the
operations that are recorded by the replay trace file.
