Can't create new mailboxes
|

| In the last week, my Exchange server will no longer create
a mailbox for a new user. I can setup the user in AD Users
and Computers and the account shows all of the proper
Exchange properties. However, the mailbox is never created
in the Private store. I have checked the basic AD sync
stuff and it appears to be ok. Not sure were to go next.

| If you use LDP or ADSIEdit on the newly created accounts, do you see some of
the following attributes?
showInAddressBook
proxyAddresses
homeMTA
homeMDB
mailNickname
If you don't see these attributes, it could be that your Recipient Update
Service is no longer stamping mail addresses on new/existing accounts. It's
worth checking out anyway. If this is indeed the case, you should probably
increase logging for MSExchangeAL to maximum then force a rebuild/update of
the Recipient Update Service. You should then see the error messages needed
to troubleshoot it.
If the attributes DO exist, keep in mind that mailbox resources are not
created until the mailbox has been accessed by a client or until the first
message is received.
Hope this helps somewhat...

| Dave,
Thanks very much for the reply. FYI: The problem appears
to have corrected itself this evening. When this started
yesterday, I sent a test message to the new box, waited
overnight, and it bounced back with a "Delivery Status
Notification (Delay)" message the next morning. I'm not
sure if the attribs where there at that time or not. I had
never had Exchange delay that long on only found out about
this when the user reported not being able to login via
OWA.
Thanks!
Robert.
