Author 1 user can't get external mail now

I had a user who's inbox was named something "strange" and
I couldn't figure out why, we gave her a new machine and
connected her up again to exchange but it was still the
same. I was directed to delete the mailbox and create a
new one (first exporting all her contents). After new
mailbox was created, it looked normal but she cannot send
or recieve external mail now. I can't see anything wrong
with the mailbox and she is still associated with the same
NT account. The only thing that changed is that I changed
several users alias names to match their NT logon names to
resolve a problem we had with using pop and smtp svcs
remotly to access mail. Hers happened to be one of the
ones that changed. When mail is sent to her address, it
never shows up in the exchange private information
store/mailbox resources. I can telnet to her account and
read her email fine (internal is all that is there though).

Any thoughts??
