exchange mail problem

| I am using exchange 2000 to store the mail for the recipients of my domain
that are in our office. There are other users of our domain not in our
office, and our ISP automatically forwards emails sent to their addresses to
another email address that i specify (just using iMail's forwarding
mechanism).
My problem is that when someone tries to send from inside our office (from a
@mydomain.com account) to another user (that has a @mydomain.com account)
who is not on our internal network, exchange just sends an NDR saying that
it couldn't deliver it because the user doesn't exist.
How do i get exchange to forward all @mydomain.com email to my ISP's SMTP
server if the user doesn't exist instead of just returning it?
For the record, all the other ways of emailing work fine - incoming and
outgoing for all other domains have experienced no problems, so i just have
to get this one last thing fixed.

| You can get Exchange to forward all @mydomain.com email to your ISP if the
user doesn't exist by setting the "forward all mail with unresolved
recipients to host" setting on your Exchange servers' SMTP virtual servers
(in the ESM, go to the SMTP virtual server properties and look at the
"Messages" tab).
This may not give you the desired result though! It sounds like the logic at
your ISP is pretty much the same, so this would cause mail loops in cases
where neither your directory nor your ISP can resolve an @mydomain.com
address. For example, if someone misspells an address, your Exchange servers
will forward the mail to your ISP, your ISP won't recognize it to forward
it, it'll come back to your Exchange org... repeat...
What you probably actually need to do is create contacts in your directory
and give them all the same target addresses that your ISP is forwarding the
mail to on their side. Then you'd be maintaining the list in two places (in
your own directory, and with your ISP) but then you could just stop having
your ISP forward the mail, and just do it all through contacts in your
Exchange org, i.e. have your ISP send ALL @mydomain.com mail to your org.
