Small office email setup....help plz!
|
|
|
| Hi, I have an office of only 10 people and need to move
over to Exchange and Outlook 2k, I know how to set-up
Outlook and install Exchange server for internal use
only. What would I need to do? I do want a consultant to
come in because I know I can do it with help and so I can
save huge amounts of money. Please correct me on these
points if I am wrong:
1. I guess I will need to register a domian name with an
ISP, and get a cable or ADSL NAT/Hub installed? (I'm
hoping I can get a device that works as a switch/hub and
router)?
2. I guess they will give me a certain amount of email
names?
3. How would the emails be forwarded to my Exchange server?
4. What would I have to setup in IMS connector?
5. Would the Switch/Hub/NAT-router's IP address be the
Exhanges gateway and the PC's internet gateway?
Thanks for your valuable help to my business.

| You said "Internal" mail only, so why are you thinking of registering a
domain name and getting an ISP.
If all you want is Internal mail, then its simple:
1. Install Windows 2000 Server or Advanced Server
2. Create Active Directory
3. Install Exchange 2000
4. Create your users using Active Directory Users and Computers
5. Install Outlook on client machines
6. Configure Outlook to talk to Exchange 2000
And away you go.
