flushing log files with backup
|

| Hi,
I do Online backup of Exchange with MSBackup and log files are deleted.
But the date of the file priv1.edb is not changed, it remains a few days
old.
Also the file size is not changed. Is seems to be, that the log files are
not flushed
but only deleted without affect on database. It is this normal or not ? I
have
not errors in event log.
Thank for your help

| You won't necessarily see priv1.edb change in size, etc. IIRC, it only
updates when the services are stopped, etc.
Check the backup logs to see if it has been successful. This raises an
important question anyway: How do you know your backups are working anyway?
How often do you perform a disaster recovery drill to a spare server to see
if you can actually recover your databases?

That was true with 5.5, but not with E2K. On a new server I can watch
the database grow as I move maiboxes onto it.
