| Hi,
logs of the format E000014.log are filling up on our exchange server. They
are all 5 MB in size. I thought these were purged when a successfull full
backup runs. However despite a full backup of the exchange and mailboxes
running each night they still remain.
We are running the following:
Exchange 2000 Standard with SP1
Windows 2000 with SP2
Arcserve 2000 with SP3 and Exchange Agent.
Is there any way I can manually remove these *.log files?
Many Thanks,
Lauren

| You can manually delete the transaction logs. Read step 6 of this article:
http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...kb;en-us;296788
It discusses determining the highest numbered log file that can be safely
removed.

| Lauren, they are removed when you perform a successful ONLINE backup. Can
you describe how your backup runs? Are you performing an online backup, or
offline? Are you doing mailbox-level backups using a 3rd party backup
product (commonly referred to as brick-level)? As far as deleting the log
files, I don't know that I would recommend it. If they are not being
purged, then there is something else going on. If you do delete the
logfiles, and your server crashes for some unknown reason, then you will
most definitely lose mail.

| Thank you,
That MS Document helped a great deal in resolving the immediate problem of
no disk space. The logs went back 3 years!
As to the course, well I found the agent options for arcserve were not
configured properly.
Again many thanks (esp Greg)

| Glad I could help. If you desire further help with Arcserve, feel free to
reply to me via e-mail and I could put you in touch with one of my Arcserve
experts.
