100 NDR's a day..HELP!!!
|
|
| Chad Davis 2002-10-30, 2:23 pm |
| I deleted a mailbox for a user that was fired from the company. Since then,
we get over 100 NDR's from external e-mails that are trying to reach her.
She obviously spent alot of time surfing the net at work and joining mailing
lists!!!
We have Exchange 2000. I do not want to disable NDR's all together, just
the 100 or so a day I am getting from her old mailbox. I had hoped they
would eventually remove her from mailing lists, but this has been going on
for several month. How can I do this. Can I say something like, send me
ndr's except if the e-mail is going to
'oldmailboxthatwasdeleted@myco
mpany.com'. Pelase help!!
Thanks,
Chad

| Create a mail-enabled Group and DO NOT put anyone in it, then goto the Email
Address tab and add email address of the user that has left, this will stop
the NDR's

| An easier approach would be to create an Active Directory Universal
Distribution Group with that exemployee's email address. Don't add any
members to it. When the messages come in they will just disappear. You can
add other exemployees' email addresses as well - all mail to these addresses
will just disappear and no NDR will be generated.
Good luck! /gary mcdonnell

| Just create a rule in your Outlook to send directly to the deleted items.

| I would like to do on the exchange side. Since the mailbox is deleted, it
would not work in outlook anyway.

| I understand.
But, I meant the recipient of the NDR's (you) would create a rule in their
(your) Outlook....

| This isn't necessary if you use the "Black Hole Distribution List" method
suggested above.

| Yes. That was a very intelligent solution. One I had never thought of but
will definetly remember!
