Have a Contact list in Public Folders. Two users are considers Owners and
the rest or Editors. The Owners have full rights to change anything and can
do. The Editors should have the rights to edit or delete most information,
but the don't. After a change an error comes up as follows.

Your Changes could not be saved because you don't have permission to modify
some or all of the items in this folder. Do you want to save a copy of this
item in the default folder for the item?

I have gone back to the permissions to one of the users and change them to
an owner. And the same message comes up.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!!!

If you're using groups to assign permissions, rather than individual
accounts, make sure the users in question don't also belong to a group that
has more restrictive permissions.

I'm not using group permisions, I am using individual accounts.

When testing I noticed that when opening a contact that was in the folder
before it comes up read-only.

Any new contact that is added isn't a problem.

Thanks!!

I just got it to work.

I move the contact list out of the public folders to my own folder and moved
it back in everyone has the proper permissions to it. So think in order to
properly set permissions the contact or item needs to be taken out of the
public folders and reinstalled back in to have all the permissions changed
properly.

Thanks for all you help!!

Jeff,

I've had the same things happening, both with contacts and
calendar entries. I've tried setting permissions per
Microsoft, but nothing worked right. So moving them out
then back in did the trick, huh?

Thanks,

Mike
