Hi,
I just installed Exchange 2000 after Mdaemon and would
like to have the same settings.
1 I need auto response.( If somebody absent server would
response with some message.
2 Send to Everyone@domainname How it works in Exchage.
3 Attachment restrictions. How to restrict attachments
with com, exe etc. files.
4 How to make autoforwarding to more than one person?
Thank you in advance

| 1. See Q323665.
2. Not sure what you mean here. Are you talking about sending a broadcast
to everyone in a company without knowing the addresses of individual
recipients?
3. General messaging restrictions can be set in the properties of the SMTP
virtual server (open System Manager - Servers - <yourserver> - Protocols -
SMTP - Default SMTP Virtual Server) under Messages. Some additional
restrictions can be placed on the SMTP connector properties, Content
Restrictions tab if you are using one. As for restricting by attachment
extension, if you are using Outlook 200x you can use the Outlook Email
Security update to restrict this from the client.
4. In the properties of the mail enabled user in Active Directory Users and
Computers, go to the Exchange General tab, Delivery Options and select
Forward to. You can use either a single user/contact or you can select a
distribution group.
Good luck.
Kevin Egan.

| More on query 3. Many 3rd party AV apps will do this as well.

Set up per user through MAPI, I believe

You're looking for a "catchall". SMTPReg.vbs is your key. See:

ISA Server does this, I believe. You might also be able to write your own
event sink with SMTPreg.vbs (above) if you're l33t.

Set a distribution list? Need clarification.

| In what situations would you want to use this catch-all?

When you want to take email addressed to any recipient at a given domain.
With multiple virtual SMTP servers and creative forwarding, you can have any
email not addressed to a particular recipient sent to a certain inbox.
