Receiving mail for all addresses in Exchange

| With sendmail, you can set up your virtusertable so that a user
receives mail for *@domain.com ...
Meaning that any mail coming in for a user that isn't otherwise
defined to receive mail goes to this user.
Is there a way to define such a condition for a user in Exchange 2000?
I want to receive all mail coming into a certain domain that doesn't
go to my specific users.
Thanks for the help

Q324021 - HOW TO: Create a "Catchall" Mailbox Sink for Exchange 2000:

Or you can use a third party app. See MailBasket at www.turbogeeks.com

| Microsoft has a "catch-all" SMTP event sink that you can add written in
VBScript, but it literally catches all of the mail going to a domain. See
the knowledgebase article Q324021. If you want to capture just misaddressed
mail, I suggest my own MailBasket program. http://turbogeeks.com.
Good luck! /gary mcdonnell

| The closest feature to what you describe that Exchange 2000 supports
out-of-the-box is the "forward all mail with unresolved recipients to host"
setting that you can configure on an SMTP virtual server via the ESM. Any
mail to a recipient that is from one of your Exchange server's responsible
domains but isn't in the Active Directory can be forwarded to a server of
your choice.
You could set up a Win2K server running the Win2K SMTP service (comes free
with the OS) without Exchange, and configure it to accept mail from your
Exchange domains. The default behavior of the Win2K SMTP service in this
capacity is to put all incoming mail in a "drop" directory. If you configure
your Exchange servers to forward all mail with unresolved recipients to this
Win2K SMTP server, all the unresolved recipients' mail will be placed in
that drop directory.
One effect of using this feature is that if someone accidentally misspells
the SMTP address of one of your users, they won't automatically receive a
5.1.1 NDR back from your Exchange servers. It will be up to someone to
physically keep an eye on the server accepting the unresolved mail and
follow up with the sender as necessary.

| I created a script that automates this process (with the files provided at
that link). It's worked fine in local alpha. Anyone want to beta test it
for me?
