Help restoring Priv.edb
|
|
|
| I had a corrupted OS so I blew away and reinstalled
completely from scratch. It's just one server (DC,
GC,..,etc). BEFORE reinstalling I saved my entire
Exchsrvr directory off to another computer. I would like
to be able to salvage my email from my original priv.edb.
When my server is completely back up and running, what are
my options for doing this? Can I just copy the old
priv.edb back over?
Also, when I run an eseutil /mh against my original
priv.edb the status says "dirty shutdown".
Please advise.
Thank you.

| Yes, you can restore your offline exchange databases:
1. In ESM drill down to your Mailbox Store-Properties-Database Tab, check
"this database can be overwritten by a restore.
2. Shutdown your Exchange Services.
3. Copy the contents of your offline Exchange mdbdata folder to your new
location.
4. Restart your Exchange Services.
5. In ESM, drill down to Mailbox Store and manually mount it.
6. You will have to reconnect the mailboxes with your User accounts. On
the Mailboxes under your Mailbox Store, right click to reconnect each
mailbox with a user account.

| Thanks for the help. However, I can not get the mailbox
store to mount. When I try to mount the store I get the
following error:An internal processing error has occured.
Try restarting Exchange System Manager, or the Exchange
Information Store service, or both.
ID no: c1041724
Exchange System Manger
Thank you again.
