Where's all this SPAM coming from?

| Greetings-
Set up an Exchange system recently E2K on W2K server. Moved from a
GroupWise system. Anywho, it seems that the majority of my users are
getting SPAM to some degree or another: some a couple of messages a week,
some eight or ten a day.
With GroupWise this was not the case. Everybody's email address is the
same. Why are we getting all of this SPAM all of a sudden?
BTW, we also upgraded to XP and IE6 (from Netscape 4.73)
Thanx

| Did you change any of the default settings on your Virtual Sever,
specifically the Relay Tab? If not, then you are secure from open relaying.
Otherwise, spam is part of having email, you have deal with it. If you want
to look for some third party tools for Exchange 2000 to control spam, see
http://www.slipstick.com/addins/content_control.htm

| In addition to John's comment - the transition from GW can't possibly have
made any difference unless you were using some content filtering software...
spam doesn't care about the mail system you're on, just the address.
