Creating a Dynamic Recipient List based on Contact Category

| This should be an interesting challange.
On our Exchange Server we have a Public Folder holding shared Contacts -
these have been separated into different pre-defined Categories.
I would like to Create a Dynamic Recipient List which is to figure in
Outlook's Address Book.
In the Exchange 2000 System Manager I'm trying to define a Recipient List
from a "Custom Search"
My Pseudo Search would something like this:
Select 'Contacts' from 'Public Folder = <FOLDER>' where 'Field.Category =
<CATEGORY>'
The problem is no Field Name under Contact is pre-defined 'Category' - so I
guess I have to define a LDAP quey from scratch?
Can anyone help me out here?
TIA,
Jeppe

| Doesn't seem to me to be possible if you are talking about Exchange Server
based Address Lists. Address lists are based on searches of the Active
Directory, not an Exchange Information Store.
Adding other Address Books into Outlook is a different matter. Any folder
containing Contacts can be added by the user into their Address Book. (The
properties of the Contacts folder will have an "Outlook Address Book" tab on
its properties pages.

| Ohh - I see.
Well - do you know if it is possible to modify the View of the Address Book,
so it sorts Contact's from 'Categories'?
Thanks,
Jeppe

| Address books don't know from PF contact categories. You can do something in
the PF with custom forms, if you want to use filtering - but it won't create
a DL for you.
