Windows 2000 Server
GFi Mail Security <Virus scanner> Scanning inbound and outbound
I have a user that is sending to his personal distribution list. When he
does the SMPT Queues gets cluttered up <not all the time but atleast a few
get held back> and exchange ands up sending a delay message then when it
finally gets through allot of them come back with this error.
There was a SMTP communication problem with the recipient's email server.
Please contact your system administrator.
<myExchng.server.com #5.5.0 smtp;552 Put ,E=\r\n at the end of Mether, Mtcp,
or Msmtp in sendmail.cf if you are using Solaris 2.5 (fixed in 2.5.1). I
cannot accept messages with stray newlines. Many SMTP servers will time out
waiting for \r\n.\r\n. sent from the internet. transmit, or distribute
unsolicited bulk>
The mails have an attached word document with tables in it. On the rare
occasions it does go through most of the people are getting corrupted mails
and can't open the attachments. I have tried converting everything to plain
text and all that inside server...the client <Outlook 2000>...we had it
working for a week, and did absolutely nothing and suddenly it got messed up
again and stopped working. Does anyone have any ideas? The only thing I
have not done yet and tried turning off outbound Virus scanning. I would
rather not do that as we often got blamed by other organizations for sending
out the Klez virus to other people <found out they were going by the "from"
address and not actually coming from us> but I like to have proof or abit
more assurance we aren't sending out viruses. If I have to turn it off I
will, just want to go every other avenue I can before then.
