I installed a 2nd e2k server and moved all user mailboxes
to the new server. The only mailboxes left on the old
server are:
smtp (ServerName -{ID ?})
System Attendant
SystemMailbox {ID ?})

Also, system folders are replicated to the new server.
Now, when uninstalling, i get an error message stating
that there are user mailboxes on this server and must be
deleted or moved. Are the above mailboxes suppose to be
moved to the new server too? I know those mailboxes were
created on the new server during the installation. I don't
really wanna do a manual uninstall. Thanks!

Both servers are running W2K--SP2 and E2K--SP2.

make sure that Active Directory replicated from the time you moved the
mailboxes to the new server. What you can do then is take the server that
you want to remove offline and using the Exchange System Manager right click
on that server and select Remove Server, this will remove the server object
from Active Directory.

Are there anything else that needs to be removed from the
AD? I'm not sure what "uninstall" actually removes from
the AD. Also, I don't want anything to happen to the new
exchange server that is up and housing about 750 mailboxes.

This article should tell you how to manually remove that installation of
Exchange 2000, if you can't get around the "can't uninstall due to existing
mailboxes" error:

Will using the manual uninstall affect the 2nd exchange
server in any negative ways?
