Outlook Express Clients should Relay but don't

| Hello everyone. I am having a very frustrating problem.
I believe I have setup the ability for Outlook Express
clients to smtp relay. I have allowed all clients that
authenticate to relay, on the exchange server SMTP
connector, and I have selected My server requires
Authentication on the OE client. However, I still get
the 550 error. Any help will be appreciated, as I have
scoured online for any answers as well as consulted my
Exchange 2000 library.

| Have you configured Outlook Express to provide the outgoing server with a
username and password?

I tried that, as well as leaving as the same as the
incoming username/password to no avail. I even tried
using the domain\username as the username and it didn't
work.

| If the users logon name is different to their Exchange alias, you must
specify their credentials in OE in the following format:
domainname\win2klogonname\exch
angealias

The logon name and the Exchange Alias are identical.
