Preventing Users From Auto Forwarding Attachments

| A client would like to allow the ability to send Out Of Office Replies and
other kinds of Auto Replies. In addition, the client would like to prevent
Auto Replies or Auto Forwards from forwarding attachments. Is there a way
to prevent attachments from being sent out with Auto Replies or Auto
Forwards on the Server Side? Thanks

| Not that I know of. I'd disable autoreply anyway out of fear of mail loops.

| I already advised against this but the law firm I am working for wants the
ability to Auto Forward and Auto Reply.

| If I were you I'd write an e-mail to the relevant managers and explain that
mail loops can bring your whole server down - give them examples of how it
could happen, etc) and advise against it again, and keep a copy of the
message. On paper. <g> At least, look at this:
http://www.cdolive.com/autoreply.htm - a method for replying only once per
sender, as OOO does.

| Do you think it would be possible to write a Event Sink
that would strip any auto reply or auto forward messages
that have attachments?

| Maybe; not my area of expertise. I doubt it's simple even if it can be done.

| I ran a test between and exchange 2K server and a Exchange
5.5. When I tried to create a routing loop my Exchange
2000 server prevented the loop by stopping the loop after
the 3rd go around. this is the message I recieved:
Unable to deliver message to the following recipients,
because the message was forwarded more than the maximum
allowed times. This could indicate a mail loop.
