Hi all quick question please. I have been tasked to
install Exchange 2k, the server will be supporting around
60 users, I also will be hosting a chat server, and
instant messaging all on the same server as exchange. The
exchagn sever has a 40 gig hd, and a P1111 with a gig of
ram. I want to know if it would be ok to install
everything to the C: drive, the system drive? if not what
should i move off of the C: drive, i was thinking that one
thing would be the transaction log files, public store.
Anything ells?

thanks

You really ought to at least add another hard drive and once you've
installed Exchange, move the databases & logs to it. Hardware RAID would be
a good idea (as it is on any server) but isn't absolutely necessary. Since
it sounds like you may not have worked with Exchange much before, also make
sure you have a tape drive and do full online Exchange backups nightly (can
use the built-in NTBackup) and you get good Exchange AV software like
ScanMail or Antigen. Don't back up--or let AV software scan--the M drive,
and don't touch permissions on it...

me how i would move these items to another HD, and should
this be right after installing exchange 2k?

Yes, it should be after you install Exchange... see Q257184. You can move
both the message and public folder stores, and logs.
