Internal DNS configuration
|
|
|
| Should I specify my ISP's DNS servers in the list of forwarders on the
Internal DNS server or should I leave these blank and use the External DNS
Servers on the SMTP virtual server?

To configure Exchange 2000 correctly for DNS queries, configure the
TCP/IP properties of the server with the IP addresses of only internal
DNS servers. Then, in DNS manager, specify the IP addresses of your
ISP's DNS servers under Forwarders (or you could leave it empty and
rely on root hints).

| Thanks.
Do you know of any issues relating to intermittent mail flow with having
Exchange 2000 running on a server that is also a DC running DNS? I know
this is not ideal, but this is what they have. See thread HELP: Strange
problems sending mail which was posted on Sept. 11, 2002.
