Bizarre! Duplicate public folder trees

| Environnment:
Training session.
3 french e2ksp2 in the same organization, 3 domains french
w2ksp2 (root and childs). 3 Admin groups (first AG, ddass,
drass), each one with servers of one w2k domain.
On each AG appears a PF container with the corresponding
Mapi PF tree. I created on my root server an empty non-
mapi PF tree.
Problem :
During demonstration of creating PF banks on alternate
storage groups on the servers (wanted to demonstrate the
Mapi PF tree was unique in the organization, so no link
have to be proposed except my alternate non-mapi PF tree),
had the surprize to see the linking possibility of the two
alternate AG's Public folder trees to the new PF bank. Two
of my students and i did it, and then could'nt delete the
bank, 'cause it was said it was the only bank in the AG
for the mapi PF tree.
First question :
Is it normal to have different mapi PF trees (one for each
w2k domain/E2k AG)?
Second : How to prevent this ?
Third : How to delete a PF Bank in this case ?
Thanks a lot,
E.T.

| Duplicate MAPI mdbs are BAD and need to be cleaned up. This problem can
occur when you install two Exchange servers simultaneously and they think
they need to create the MAPI tree (this happens due to either slow DCs or DC
replication delay).
There might be a KB article on this and you should check out the Microsoft
exchange web site. Otherwise, you can either modify the AD directly (remove
the bad MAPI trees and assign any existing mdb over to the remaining tree).
