Author Exmerge question

We have recently migrated to Exchange 2000 SP3 and have need to use the
Exmerge utility to do some occassional archiving of mailboxes. We have
solved the "send-as" and "receive-as" issue and can use Exmerge without any
problems from workstations or other servers. The problem is when we try to
run Exmerge on the Exchange 2000 server itself. We always get LDAP errors
in the Exmerge.log file and can never get the list of Storage Groups on the
server. My guess is that the LDAP port the Exmerge program is trying to use
is "busy" being used by the server itself.

Does anyone have a workaround for this issue?

Thanks!

Is Exchange installed on a domain controller?

No. The Exchange servers are not domain controllers.
