We have just installed exchange 2000.
We have one computer that will not connect to exchange.
This is a member server in the domain and is setup as a
terminal server.
We have a similar server that works fine.
the server in question was recently demoted from a domain
controller to a member server.

The error returned is:

The name could not be resolved. The Microsoft Exchange
Address Book was unable to log on to the microsoft
Exchange Server computer. Contact your system
administrator if the problem perisits.

You didn't state whether or not you tested name resolution with NSLOOKUP on
the machine that's failing.
