| Can anyone tell me what I need to do to sort this problem:
I have go one exchange server and need to build a replacement server with
exactly the same name, ip add and exch settings so that clients will not
notice the change.
I have built the server win 2000 server os and installed exchange 2000 onto
it. I want to copy over the active directory but getting problems doing
this. I have tried restoring from backup but when getting clients to connect
they get a message saying location for files have changed do you want to
accept the change (well something along those lines) I want to avoid doing
this, so what and how do you do this?
Currently trying IDR using veritas ,dont hold much hope there!
Any ideas Please? getting desperate!

The simplest thing to do would be to just put the new exchange server
on the network and move the mailboxes a few at a time.
The next simplest, based on what you've got would be to back the
server up, pull the old one off the network, install W2K, restore the
system state. Do a /disasterrecovery setup of exchange and then
restore the stores.
Throw the IDR away, you don't need it.

| Thanks Mark,
I have already done a non-authoratitive restoration of the active directory
and everytime I restore (using the same disk partitions etc) the machine
hangs at the first windows screen whilst booting up
Any other suggestions?
