Author dumb question: cant connect with Exchange Admin
nancy do

hi all,

i installed exchange 2000 and the exchange admin 5.5.
exchange 2k seems to be working ok.
i can send/recv mail and the system manager program
runs.

however, i cant run the admin 5.5 and connect
to the exchange server.

the error i get is:
"The list of Microsoft Exchange Server computer is not
available..."

am i missing something obvious?
do i have to first run some process using the system
manager?
is it a permissions problem?

thanks in advance

nancy

I assume you are trying to connect to an Exchange 5.5 server using the 5.5
Admin Tool?

If you type the name of the server in, instead of clicking on the Browse
button, does it work?

i did try to type both the name of the
server computer and the name of the
exch organization.

both cases, it timed out after 30sec and
said failed to connect.

You cannot connect to an Exchange 2000 server using the Exchange 5.5 Admin
Tool, if you do not have Exchange 5.5 installed don't worry about the 5.5
Admin tools.
