I've been using the two data providers (OLEDB & SQL)
within ADO .NET, but would like to learn how to write my
own. Can anybody recommend a good book on this topic?

Strangely enough this is covered in the dot net framework sdk.

I appreciate your candor. It's always nice to know where
someone is coming from, and quite frankly, your origins
have always been a bit of a mystery.

Do you not think the dot net framework would be a good place
look???????
