I've got a card without ID, hologram and magnetic stripe. I asked Microsoft
if it's normal. They send me this info:

Hello,

This is in response to your e-mail regarding your MCSD .NET Early Achiever
wallet card.

Thank you for your e-mail. Please be advised that the MCSD .NET Early
Achiever wallet cards will not indicate your MCP ID. They also will not have
a hologram. The reason is because, as you are an Early Achiever, the
differently designed wallet card will be easily recognized and distinguish
you amongst others as an Early Achiever.

If there is anything else we can do for you, please let us know. Thank you
for contacting Microsoft.

Vlad

Then it must be normal. Too bad. The hologram is cool.

Looks like you're right, Scott.

http://www.microsoft.com/traincert/...sd/showcase.asp

Wierd -- being an early achiever, you'd think they'd have jazzed the card up
a little. I now have doubts about doing my MCSD.Net before Sept 30.

Regards,
JAC.

I do not like Early Achiever card too. The letter on EA card is easier to
remove too. All wallet should have halogram as standard. The idea is simple,
halogram proves the genuine. When compare to normal card with halogram, the
EA card looks cheap. Some people would think it is the fake one.

The color should be shiny gold, not the dull green like this.

I do not care the magenic card, because I have use it. Although it makes teh
feeling of hi-tech.

By the way, what exactly is stored on the magnetic strip? On what occasions
might it be read? Is it just there to 'look' fancy?

Interesting position - not to do MCSD.NET just because of the appearance of
the wallet card

Microsoft has at various times used magnetic-striped cards to track
attendance patterns at local events.

I used the same VUE testing center for all my Microsoft exams (12 of them).
Every time I'm coming to take another exam I'm giving my wallet card and
they read my info by using some kind of unit. I don't know if the same
registration procedure is used in other testing centers.
