Pirate Copy!? Please don't judge something you don't know.
We received it from Microsoft since our company is Microsoft Certified
Partner and we are subscribed to MSDN universal.
And I believe what I need to do (and what others need to) is only setup,
select whatever modules we wanna install and forget about it.
And I'm not the only one who is failed doing this.
You might need to do cross check into microsoft.public.vsnet.setup, and
perhaps your perspective can be wider.

There are many pirate copies for all microsoft products floating
around. Many will not install because there were copied using 'cheap'
run of the mill duplicators.

If you or anyone else users illegal (and I never said you did), I hope
you get what you deserve.

Why do *I* need to bother? I'm not dick that works for a 'Microsoft
Certified Partner' that cannot work why the setup program does not
work!

Have you people no initiative what so ever? Can you not research the
problem yourself before running to teaching saying 'I can't do this
Miss'? Did you not think of contacting the ms support people,
searching the msdn, searching Google, searching
'microsoft.public.vsnet.setup', before posting the question here?
After all this is a certification news group and not
'microsoft.public.vsnet.setup'.

So don't wine on to me because you are idiot and feel embarrassed by
your stupidity.

You work for a Microsoft Certified Partner! Did not think to check the
knowledge base, the web or contact support for your problem? Maybe you are
in the wrong business pal.

Surprising how many support calls we get regarding counterfeit software and
people not being able to install it, some from big businesses too!!!

No I would not.

Piracy costs the software industry billions of dollars (and to other
industries as well) each year. It's ridiculous why we have any trade
agreements with China, Mexico and the former eastern block countries
(and others) when their governments & infrastructure as a whole turn a
blind eye to such practices. This results in hundreds of thousands of
job losses is the US alone.

I already did, and still waiting for their response.
Most people who have this problem have some in common, installing from DVD,
have previous .NET framework installled.

Thanks for the critics.
I've already done what you said before you posted that thread, and that's
why I put my question
here too because Microsoft has not given solution for this problem.
And anyway, I am not embarrassed to say I'm an idiot in this field
(installation problem), that's
why I ask, so I can be "smarter" someday. Nobody's perfect, right?

It would have helped if you had given description of whatever problem
it was, rather than a binary attachment.

Anyway, I'll apologize for being so rude.

I am sorry Kline. I don't know that the attachment I sent become binary attachment.
Also, I'm sorry for being out of control when I responded your thread.
It was a long story in installing VS .NET 2003.
Originally, my machine is using XP Pro, with VS Studio 6 & VS .Net 2002 installed.
So, when Microsoft sent DVD of VS.Net 2003, I installed it using Custom Installation
(I unselected J# & C++, since I don't need them).
So, when it's almost 100% done, I got this error:

Error 1935.An error occured during the installation of assembly component.

Then I started searching on google, newsgroup & Microsoft Knowledge Base about this error, which brought me
to some urls:
http://www.dotnet247.com/247reference/msgs/8/40043.aspx
http://www.cpdtracker.com/support/
http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=...rnum%3D
2

http://support.microsoft.com/?id=326027
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=318003
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=320112

I did everything Microsoft suggested on those urls above.
Then, I uninstalled VS Studio 6 & .NET 2002, as well as .NET Framework to make sure that I will do clean install of VS. NET 2003.
After it's clean, I re-installed VS.NET 2003, and it installed prerequisites components first, such as .NET Framework 1.1, J# distribution, etc. After it's done, I installed .NET 2003 component again (same spec, without J# & C++), but now, it become worse.
Don't expect almost 100% installation, just 1-2 minutes after the installation process, it came with an error message:

Internal error 2229., InitializationSequence,
select 'Action', NULL,
'Condition' from 'InitializationSequence'
where 'Sequence' > 0 order by
'Sequence'

Now, if this happens once/twice, and it works after that, probably I won't be frustrated like this.
I have tried this five times and yet, same thing happens.
You are right Kline, I am truly an idiot in this case. I don't expect to experience this very hard installation process.
Probably if Microsoft has an exam, 70-999, Installing VS.NET 2003, I can't pass that exam.

Now, I am using Notepad (which I call VS Interdev 2005) to do all my work.
I'd love to research on this deeper, but you know, if I keep focusing on this, my boss will fire me for sure because
I will miss all my deadline (and I already missed some of them).

I hope this long story will help you understand my frustration.

Again, I am sorry for behaving unpolite which made you felt offended.
I join this newsgroup to make me smarter and get more friends, not to get more conflict and enemies.

Let me know if you can help me out of the blue.

The original problem (error 1935) may well have related to problems
with the framework as defined in kb q308096.

After you when through and removed vs 98, 2002 & the dot net framework
did ensure that the compents/files were really removed?

Installing -

Turn off any virus software.

Before installing vs 2003, install the .net framework 1.0 then 1.1. If
these installations work, then try installing vs 2003.

If still no good, you 'may' be able to run the windows installer clean
up utility to remove the corrupt installation settings, but I'm not
sure on this - check the ms site.

Your last idea is interesting. Haven't tried it yet, will do tomorrow (even
though actually I need sleep in Memorial Day). :-)

Thanks a lot Kline.
