Author Question about MCSD path

Hi all, first a little background;

I have a degree in Computer Science and have been working as a Microsoft
Developer (ASP, VB, VC++, SQL server and more recently .NET) for the last 5
year.

I am thinking of doing the MCSD and have a few questions

The page about requirements mentions courses
http://www.microsoft.com/traincert/...mentsdotnet.asp

Do I have to attend these courses or can I just purchase the recommended
books and then when I feel I have digested the information sit the exams?

Thanks in advance

You don't have to attend courses or read books, you can take the exams
whenever you think you're ready.

Hi Mark,

You can take the test without any preparation if you wish (and some do).
If you're paying for the tests out of pocket, I recommend as much
preparation as you can tolerate before testing. I have years of experience
developing and I chose Transcender products to help me prepare. I felt the
tests provided an accurate assessment of my strengths and weaknesses. You
can find out more at http://www.transcender.com.

Good Luck,
Andy Leonard, MCSD
