hi,

I was planning to take the MCSD for Microsoft .net, I
have learnt the .net programming by myself. Although I am
sure theres still lot more for me to learn. I wanted to
know if I need to take any exam other than the 4 core and
1 elective exams listed on the certification site. Also
tell me the best order to take exams and exact format. the
exams listed on the site

Well you don't need to take any other exam (at least for the Certification
purpose) apart from the ones listed there on the site.

There is again no fixed format for the exams. But you will have to decide on
certain factors before appearing for the exams:

i)Your background knowledge about the core technologies, especially the
Microsoft Technologies (VB, VC++etc) and others like C++ or Java.On the
basis of that you can choose the track : C# or VB.NET.

ii) Whether your core experience/strong point is Windows Application
Development or Web Development.Based on this you can decide the exam order.

In my case I prefer the order as
1) Exam 70-306: Developing and Implementing Windows-based Applications with
Microsoft Visual Basic .NET and Microsoft Visual Studio .NET

2) Exam 70-305: Developing and Implementing Web Applications with Microsoft
Visual Basic® .NET and Microsoft Visual Studio® .NET

3) Exam 70-310: Developing XML Web Services and Server Components with
Microsoft Visual Basic .NET and the Microsoft .NET Framework

4) Exam 70-300: Analyzing Requirements and Defining Microsoft .NET Solution
Architectures
