Author 71-300 Results : 5 to 6 more days ???
R Tang

2003-02-10, 8:23 am

I just called VUE. They told me that I need to wait 4 to 5 more days.
She says that they got a communication from Program Coordinator, Microsoft
stating VUE will get results in 4 to 5 days.

If so, we will know results through transcripts only (If Microsoft updates
them)
Blair (not Tony) should be lucky amongst the passed.

I just did. My mail server responded with 'this message may take say
time to reach its host, as it is located in the delta quadrant'! Ummm
is that a Linux firewall?

Vue's web site is now saying "fail", it was saying taken when I last checked (late last week). So go figure...

Also, my Win 98 box on which I took the beta exam on "crapped" out on me when I completed my exam. Of course at the time Vue technical support assured me my exam had been recorded successfully. All I know is when (if) I do retake it its not going to be on a Win98 box.

I was pretty confident I had passed the exam, It makes me wonder this free voucher coming up is a nice way of saying oops we messed up here go waste another 4 hours of your time.

To all who are TecEd 2003 bound in Dallas please feel free to stop by the MCP booth and let them know your pleasant thoughts ....I am sure I will

I don't think you will have a choice about the OS. I believe Win98 is a
requirement for VUE test machines - a training center I've worked for also
delivers VUE tests and they are certainly under that impression. And from
the looks of it, Prometric seems to be the same.

On the VUE web site, my transcript has been updated from "taken" to
"pass". My MCP transcript does not yet reflect this and I have not
received the official "magic email".

I guess I'll go buy some champagne and drink it one way or the
other.......but it's looking good so far......

K, so I took advantage of my free voucher today.

Passed the exam, did not answer any differently than I had when I took the exam in beta, so go figure.

In any case the exam is an easy one, 3 case study(s) containing 30 questions in all (120 minutes)

Krusty,

To answer your "observation" no I was not "more careful" than last time and YES the exam is still very simple (as it was during the beta).

I did not pay for either exam, took both the exam's with the same vigor. If you look at the discussion thread you will notice that the PC I was taking my exam on (beta) crashed on me when I clicked the button "Finished with exam". I was assured by VUE technical support that my responses had been stored. But I feel differently....

I know the risk's when one takes a beta exam so I have no complains there. However I would like to be informed of the "truth". It appears that when one takes a beta exam the results / responses are temporarily stored on the PC then onto the local LAN and thereafter a manual process transfers the results onto the testing agency (Vue etc). Soon after the PC had crashed I was observing the conversation between the local testing rep and VUE tech support. That conversation was not very encouraging as far as I was concerned (to say the least) and I feel that I was misinformed when I was told that my exam responses and been recorded successfully....

In any case, I reiterate that I understand the risk's of taking a beta exam, what I am complaining about is to be told the truth about the situation after the fact. This "crashing" of 70-300 beta was not an isolated incident (I have seen posts of few others indicating the same) ..

In all fairness I was pleasantly surprised by the free voucher and thank Microsoft $ for it.

Actually it crashed on me also during beta-right from the start and they cannot fix it for almost 1 hr eventually I left and unfortunately because was the last day of Beta, I cannot retake.

I passed it last week, and I feel people should prepare some more so as to not waste the money or the free voucher(a wasted voucher should be considered 125$ wasted as you will need paid for next try). Maybe the difficulty differ from one to another take, the ORM question and other project management questions were not that easy on mine, and I believe I nailed some of them only after changing answers during review.

My 70-300 result on Prometric site is still "pending" after a week, I will fax them my result tomorrow. The service definitely need to be improved for sure.
