Author MCSD - know how

I held a job as ASP/VB programmer a while back (8
months). Very heavy into ASP (and good at it). Recently
I decided to get back into IT field so I took like 2 weeks
to study and pass the 70-176.

I found out that with a little bit of knowledge and study,
you could pass the exams. I am confident that if I study
hard, I could get the MCSD cert. within a month or two.
But doing so won't do me any good (cuz I'll just be like
one of my friends who's holding a BSCS with little or no
work experience knocking on doors for job)

Here's the problem. I don't want to get that cert. and
hang it on the wall. I want that cert. because I want to
be a professional. The biggest problem I run into is that
it's hard to find a good book nowadays and most seem to be
written for the money only. I went through a lot of books
but didn't learn much from them.

Could you refer me to any site that has practical apps to
challenge your knowledge?

Best VB6 Book - "Programming Visual Basic 6.0" by Balena (He just released
the .Net version a short time ago, too).
Best 70-176 Book - "Exam Prep - Visual Basic 6 Desktop" by Ekedahl.
Extremely thorough tutorial and reference.

I'm not sure what you mean by "any site that has practical apps ." Are you
looking for tutorials? How many hours of study a day were you putting in to
be able to pass the 70-176 in two weeks. I work full-time and studied up on
70-175 & 70-176 for months before passing.

I studied for about 4-5 hours a day (not counting the
break time) on and off during the 2 weeks period. I
finished the 70-176 MOC book and flipped through a lot of
other books (only read the parts which I find
intereting). That's when I found out lots of books out
there are nothing but craps.
