Author 70-300 Results - Very Frustrating

Hi,
Its been more than 9 weeks since I took this exam. Very
frustrating to wait for the results. Does anybody has any
updates on this. Atleast if MS informs us when result
might available, it would be reasonable.
Thanks,
Murali

Actually it's been over 10 weeks already.

LOL. That helping, Danut!

It will be 11 weeks tomorrow for me. I'm getting a tad
impatient as well. Although, there's nothing I can do
about it. So, here I sits and waits.

I have heard that it'll probably be the week of February 2nd before we start
to see results from the beta.

Murali,

I'm sorry you're so frustrated about the time it's taking to get the results
from the 70-300 beta exam. Typically the results for case study-based exams
take longer than results for our traditional exams. This longer time frame
should have been stated in the information the candidates saw, but it
doesn't look like it was.

The 70-300 exam will go live in February, and the live date is usually 1-2
weeks after beta exam scores are released. Currently there is no reason for
this schedule to change. Given that, I wouldn't expect any results before
the end of January.

I know this isn't the response you were looking for, but hopefully it will
help give a better timeframe for expecting results.

I'm equally frustrated but what can we do?
I called Prometric and Microsoft and MS told me the results will be released
before the exam goes live and this going to be in February so we have less
than two weeks left.

It's a good opportunity to learn patience :-)

Alice,

The last few betas relating to .Net came out at a minimum of 3 to four weeks
prior to the exam going live.

That said, waiting a couple of weeks more is better than waiting a couple
months.

Do you even know if the grading is completed? Are TPTB just waiting till
just a few days prior to Feb 10th?

Alice,
Thanks for the reply. This gives us some idea when we
can expect results. We are just becoming like a school

And you still have the

'The exam has been live for 6 weeks and I've still not received my

There is a post from Alice Ciccu in this thread that says they do not have
results yet.

If you call Prometric now, they will probably tell you that you failed.
While it's correct that you have 'not passed', the truth is that they don't
have results yet and their system just doesn't reflect that accurately.

Yeah, I made the mistake to call Prometric and they told me the second time
in the last 4 weeks that I failed 71-300.

Alice,

Will the people who pass the beta get some form of prize like VS.NET or Exam
voucher?

Anyone support this idea?

For the 4.5 hour spent on the exam!

I'd certainly support it - but I doubt we'll see it, especially
retroactively. One thing to consider is that for beta exams that included
'prizes' like 70-100, beta testers also had to pay half price for the exam.
And in some cases, you only got the prize if you passed. As I recall, the
betas I did that involved prizes were:

70-100: For taking, free voucher. For passing, voucher plus choice of VS6,
Office, or one of 2 CBT packages that listed for $100
70-015: For taking, free voucher.
70-016: For taking, free voucher.
70-019: For taking, free voucher. For passing, 3 free vouchers.

If anything, my memory may be overly generous. There may have been an exam
or two that offered jack squat for trying the beta without passing.

To be honest, the only one where the prize was a real motivator for me was
70-019. And even worse than having to pay $50, the beta process was much
more painful then. I think the 70-100 beta *testing* ran for about 2 months,
and results weren't returned until about 6 months after that. 015 and 016
were almost as slow, and all 4 definitely had at least one extension to the
beta period. Even with the prizes, MS had difficulty attracting enough
testers to get statistically valid results..

February 10th is the rumor that is circulating (with reasonable certainty).
Since that is the date Microsoft officially announces the "immediate"
availability of MCSD .NET, this exam will have to be available by then.

Then I'm glad I took the exam at VUE, since they do have
taken, passed and failed in the exam history list on they
website. ;-)

It is frustating though that 71-300 results are still not
known. If I have passed this as well, I will have passed
all seven .NET exams in beta stage in one go without any
preparation..

As far as I know the only "prize" that can be had is
a "charter member" card and certificate for the first
5000 people worldwide that get .NET certified. I'm
already a MCAD charter member and if I've passed 71-300
I'll be a MCAD.NET charter member as well, I guess. And
the date you passed the exam in your transcript of
course: way before the exam was officially out, so people
will be able to see you took (and passed) a beta and thus
were one of the first people to pass it.

Depends on what you mean with "receive results for the
beta". For most (all?) of the beta's I took, I've never
seen anything in the mail. They just appeared on my MCP
transcript and turned from "taken" to "passed" on my VUE
exam history one day, shortly before the exams went live.
As far as I can remember, all I received was my MCAD
certification kit. If you are waiting to receiving
something for every exam you could be in for a long wait,
I guess. ;-) Just keep checking your transcipt
regularly. I know I do...

You mean you are a MCAD and going for your MCSD.NET, right?
AFAIK, there will be no charter membership for MCSD.NET
since it is not a new certification. Please correct me if
I am wrong.

That sounds right. I saw a posting some time ago on this
group that the first "x" people to acheive the MCSD for
Microsoft .NET might be given "early adopter" status. At
least, that's what has been done for other certs in the
past. "x" might be 1,000. But there has certainly been
no official announcement of such.

It does not show on my transcript for 70-300 beta that I have taken the
exam. Does yours?

To clarify, it wasn't on this group, it was in
a "Certifications for Developers" chat last November.
Here is the clip from the transcript:

Q: Are there any plans for a charter/early adopter
designation for MCSD.Net? If so, will it also cover 5,000
people? (That seems like too many to me - MCAD may take
over a year to hit that number.)

Host Guest_Eckhart_MS [Eckhart Boehme, product manager for
MCSD and MCAD]
A: Yes, there is going to be an early adopter membership
for MCSD for Microsoft .NET.

LOL. Since I didn't pass my SQL 2K until 12/26/02, I
would be an MCSD.NET as of then - I wonder where I might
fall in the queue. Not really worried though
about "charter" or "early adopter" or whatever (just
bragging rights, I think). I JUST WANNA KNOW MY RESULTS!!!
