Hi, guys.
Been a while to post here at cert news group, but I'm going to take my next
exam toward MCSD .NET on Feb 1. I passed the three MCAD exams last November.
I took a few months easy doing some other stuff (some Macromedia stuff!) and
now I'm back on pursuing MCSD .NET.

So there are two exams left for me to take. 70-229 (I choose this one) and
70-300. I heard that 70-300 is coming out on Feb 10. Any more information on
this?

I am busy studying for the 300. I am guessing it will be out mid February.
The 229 is a toughie, my friend. Plan to study hard for that one.
The training kit was excellent, imo, but I already knew SQL very well with
both Oracle and SQL2000.
From what I have read, the 300 is mainly modeling.
The 229 places heavy emphasis on modeling as well.
The 229 as an elective is a good move, imo.

Hey, Glenn. Good to see you again in this newsgroup.

So I see Microsoft has released a book on 70-300. Are you using that, Glenn?

Here is the link.

Hey, don't scare me like that. hehe. Yeah, I've been studying for this one
for a little while, and this is real good for me because I thought I knew
SQL Server alright, but there are things I came across and never knew about.
Very good studying for me.

I assume you mean by modeling is related to database? I wonder it includes
some object modeling such as UML? Well, I should go and see Microsoft's site
to check what they want us to study....

Well, good luck and I'm off to studying!

I have not noticed that book.
If it is available, I will buy it tonight.
I am guessing that it is an advanced notice and won't actually be out for a
couple of months.
I will let you know.
Thanks,
Glenn

This item will be released on April 2, 2003.
Oh what a dilemma.
I will let you know if I wait (these books are really great) or just plunge
in and take it next month.
I really want to do it next month.

I took the beta exam and I do not remember to have seen any UML. Some
questions were related to ORM.

Good luck to you both!

I took the beat as well and I remember at least one, at
most two, questions each on UML and ORM. Nothing real
detailed.

If you've taken and passed the -100 exam, then the -300
exam shouldn't be that much of a problem. Know the basics
of MSF, UML, ORM, and what .NET technologies are
appropriate for certain situations. Fewer drag-and-drop
questions on the -300 than the -100.

Good luck!

I used the training kit for my studying. I like the fact
that they cross referenced each chapter and section to the
exam objectives. But I would recommend that any time they
say in the training kit "For more detail read (MSDN,
BOL)." that you *do* read the appropriate sections in MSDN
or BOL. Because the training kit isn't enough in and of
itself.

I never took the 100 so I am a little nervous about it.
I will start studying in earnest this coming weekend.
I did study UML and ORM already.
I felt very comfortable with the modeling in the 229.
We will see. I will take the 300 in about a month.
Thanks,

Nevertheless, the number of errors in the 'readiness review' alone,
would indicate the need to employ one or two proof readers.

I waited for the webservices and components training kit.. but then gave up
waiting and studied thru msn and mocs to pass ..
Currently I'm studying for the 229.. with 4+ years of SQL server
administration/development experience I see it will be a bit easyer for me.
The One that I'm aware of is the 300.. are there any good online resources
for this one? Pdfs docs...

The 70-229 is fairly easy if you have experience on SQL Server development.
I enjoyed this exam probably more than any other.

About 70-300 it's one of that exams with some case studies and you have to
point things that you take there. I mean, you have to choose strategies,
practices and so on by analysing the cases.

Why does everyone say that? I found it quite easy. At least at the end of
the exam I felt I'd passed it before I pressed the finish button. With the
other exam I've taken (70-315) I didn't feel so confident (although I did
actually pass it, I felt I hadn't just before I pressed the finish button -
what a pleasent surprise to be told I had passed)

Anyway - Its 70-320 that really scares me.

It depends on what you know. No doubt there are many people that think
the C# exams were easy, to them, they were.
