OT Question but in todays economic climate and given what
you have said, I *personally* would accept that there are
numerous flaws in the products that you are about to
ship/impliment that at this stage you can do
little/nothing about this.
I'd instead concentrate on the long term picture and speak
to *everyone* about the problems you are seeing with the
current development process and what can be done to remedy
the problem in the long term. Investment in training and
formal development structure DOES pay-off but youre going
have to take it slowly and sensitively, appreciating the
potential current economic realities and political
sensitivities of your company (i.e. Dont p***-off youre
collegues who are probably frustrated already with the
problems you have identified; and dont try to hard to
impress your new-boss...this can easily backfire).
If you can come-up with solutions that have agreed
concensus and take into account the larger business
needs/realities of your company you are much more likely
to bring about change that has real impact on the
development process.
