Author Exam MCP 70-176

Hi folks,

I'm preparing the exam 70-176. This is my first time so I ask you some
things
concering it.

The material I'm using to prepare it is the following:
- The Visual Basic 6.0 Desktop Application MCSD Training book
- The MSDN provided by the VS6.0
- MeasureUp tests (bought last month)
- Free Transcender tests from the Internet

These are my questions:
Could the exam include some questions about the Distribute application
paper?
The objectives reported by Microsoft don't report nothing about it but
I read previous posts talking about...
Could anyone confirm please?

At the moment my scores on MeasureUp and Transcender tests are more
then 85% but I don't know really if I'm ready to get the live exam....
Could anyone provide me some feedback?

Thanks in advance

Emiliano

In my experience, passing the Transcender with 85% is a very good indication
that you are ready to sit the exam PROVIDED that this score was on the first
attempt. This is why the full Transcender has 3 exams, so you get to see 3
fresh exams against which to evaluate yourself.

If you get 85% on the Transcenders on subsequent attempts, then it is hard
to tell whether you are ready - only you can be the judge of that. I would
think that you probably are, but it depends on whether you are getting a
good score because you're learning that particular exam, or because you know
the underlying concepts better each time.

Hope that this helps you in your decision. If you have any questions, feel
free to ask here or by the e-mail below.

Emiliano:
I've found that the Coriolis Exam Cram guides are far better than the
Microsoft guides. You can get them for both of the VB6 exams from Amazon
dirt cheap through one of the other book sellers that Amazon supplies.
Search on the exam number and click on the "more new and used" link. They
are available for less and $5.00 US each, plus they have tips on preparing
for the tests and a very good practice test at the back of the book.

Hi,

thanks a lot for your feedback. My score is actually on the free
Transcender tests and on MeasureUP that includes 230 questions.

Do you know the MeasureUp tests? I think that these are more hard then
Transcender.

I don't really know if I'm ready to get the live exam... I'm studying
very hard
each day, I'm not using VB on my job.

Thanks
Emiliano

Hi,
I've found the Exam Guides you indicated.

I need to know if the real exam can include some questions about the
distributing application!!! I'm not very skill about it....

Thanks

Emiliano,

I have never tried the MeasureUp Tests. When I studied for this exam, I had
the full Transcenders, and when I passed the third exam on the first
attempt, I sat the exam and passed easily.

YMMV

Emiliano:
I haven't taken 70-176, but I took 70-016, the Visual C++ equivalent. The
only thing I remember that might be considered "distributed oriented" was a
question about putting an app on a CD using cabarc utility. This comes with
the Windows 2000 Resource Kit (and probably the XP version as well). Read
"packaging activex controls" and practice with Cabarc.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/d...omponents/activ
ex/packaging.asp Also, there was a question on how to deploy an ODBC app on
a network. Hope this helps.
