Is it common fail MS cert exams?

| I don't know about the beta exams, but I have been told
that the average pass rate for MS cert exams is somewhere
around 15% (that is, for every 100 exams that people take,
85 or them are failed).
I failed 70-176 the first time.

| I find that HIGHLY unlikely... If anything, imho, it is likely closer to
being the other way around 85% passing... On 70-015, for example, the
passing grade is/was around 54%... I find it hard to believe that 85% would
fail with that kind of curve. Just my 2 cents.

| Get real!
What Marvel comic did you read that one out of?
I would say the pass rate would be around 90 to 95%, somewhat less for beta
exams.

| A lot less for beta exams... I would say only 5% pass beta exams...

| OK...confession time. I was told that by someone who was
trying to flog me some expensive internet-based training.
He was trying to impress on me the degree of difficulty
involved in becoming certified and the benefits once
certification is achieved (I am MCP trying to become MCSD).
Obviously, he was "mistaken" with his figures!!
It would be nice, though, if some reliable figures were
published about pass rates...perhaps by Microsoft? BTW I
doubt the pass rate would be 90-95% given the number of
people in the various discussion groups who start their
posts with "I just failed exam ..." Even if each person
failed each exam once before obtaining a pass (and I have
heard of people sitting an exam 3 or 4 times before
passing) the pass rate would be 50%. Obviously not
everyone will fail an exam the first time they sit (and
there will always be the cheats that use braindumps) and
that will help bring the pass rate up, but it would be
surprising if the rate was at 90%.
Again, humble apologies for the obvious error.

| My comments on 90 - 95% were amid at the professionals who take the exams.
Given that any want-to-be 'Microsoft' developer can take these exams, I do
think my 'estimate' was rather high. People with limited experience may find
the exams a bit harder, so naturally those type of people will fail more
often.
I asked the systems manager here where I work about the number of exam
failures. He said that since he has been here (at least five years), no one
has failed a Microsoft exam taken through the company. I'm never confirmed
if this included beta exams, although I known the people that took the 300 &
214 beta exams all passed.
The '15%' pass mark given to you was simply some company ready to milk you
for what they can get out of you. It's a very lucrative business selling
'training aids', 'practice exams', pointless courses etc to fools willing to
part with their money for what in the end amounts to a rather meaning piece
of paper.
At least you were not conned into handing over any money, but just think of
the number of people that do!

| Not crap. I failed my beta exams, but because I didn't study, and did not
have any experience with dotnet when I took them. I just took them because
they were free, and to see what they were like. I think a lot of people do
the same. If not, then tell me why is it that that there were only 102 MCADs
that took the exams and passed first time? I bet a lot more people than 102
took beta exams...
