| I passed 70-315 in beta, but intend to pass all exams in both C# and VB.Net
versions. I don't expect employers or students to understand the redundancy
between the exams and don't want to have to explain it.
I had 55 questions and 120 minutes to answer them. There were fewer
questions about ADO.Net and security than I expected. I think I saw more
about debugging & installation. The exam is functionally the same as 315.
It's been a long time since I took that exam, but there were a bunch of
questions I'm positive I saw on the 315 beta, just with semicolons added. So
the fact that this was almost a 'retake' made this a little easier for me.
I read most of the MS 305/315 training kit and the links at
www.codeclinic.com/70-315skills.htm. I've been doing some real work with
..Net for about a year and have read many other books & magazines about it as
well. I didn't try any practice questions, even the ones that came with the
MS training kit. I think the training kit is OK - the labs have a few errors
and at least one horrifyingly bad design choice (generating record IDs by
SELECT MAX(ID) from the database), but this is typical of most programming
books I've read. And to be fair, I didn't even look for errata that might
correct many of the errors - there wasn't anything that was too difficult to
resolve on my own, which is especially useful practice for me. But I don't
think it goes into sufficient depth to be a primary preparation tool for the
exam.
