I'am getting ready to study for the MCSD and wanted some
info on what kind of salary does one make on average after
achieving the MCSD. Please email me back so that I know
this is the right field for me

Based solely upon having an MCSD, you are legally guarenteed an hourly wage
of no less than $5.15 in the USA...if you can find a job. (exceptions
apply) However, it should be noted that salary varies greatly with
experience and actual capability to perform your job duties. Other factors
such as additional credentials and the job market in your area may also
influence your results. If you currently have no experience in the IT
field, realize that you can't just go get a certification and instantly get
a job paying huge sums of money. You will make very little without
experience. This applies whether or not you have a college degree. From
what I've seen lately, entry-level IT jobs are hard to come by and pay only
slightly more than the $5.15 I mentioned earlier. If you currently have a
job in IT, then you'll probably not make much (if anything) more with your
MCSD. However, coupled with experience, it may help you in the long run.
Besides, there is the personal satisfaction that you've accomplished
something. That is, if you don't cheat on the exams.

One other note... I've never seen anyone do well financially in IT that
didn't really enjoy what they were doing. I realize earning potential is an
important factor to consider in a career, but its definitely not the only
one. If you're just looking for an easy way to get rich and are not
motivated by the excitement of creating new and innovative things, this
field is not for you.

Not sure how much credence I'd put in those numbers. They ARE from 2001.
Wasn't Yahoo and CMGI hovering around $300/share in those better times? I
think things are way, way different right now... *sigh* longing for the
good 'ole days.com ;-)
