I'd like opinions on using SharpDevelop as a substitute for VS.net as I
prepare for MCSD.

You will need to understand the features offered by the vs.net ide and
the environment it operates in. So the answer is no.

For learning the capabilities of c#, the sharp develop will certainly
be better than using notepad!

The new version of sharpdevelop is excellent... it now includes a form
designer....
On each release it gets more like VS.net.. but its FREE....
