If it's any consolation to you, Microsoft is digging its
own grave on security. Read up on adware (and be careful
that you don't get infected in the process). Adware has
been declared legal in US and this concept is spreading
like wildfire.

Our company recently abandoned further development of a
semi-finished web based application because of the above
concerns. We are shifting to a closed system (WAN/Citrix)
which offers much better security.

I know what adware and spyware are but I don't understand you comment.
Can you please elaborate on it?
