I was cruising around (lord knows why) and found this:

http://members.microsoft.com/partne...ing/programs/ce
rtifiedpartner/CertReqexams.aspx

Check out exam 70-304.

I remember a thread a few weeks ago about this and thought
y'all might like to know.

So what?

So, there's been curiosity and speculation on this board
as to whether there would be a Managed C++.NET component
to the MCSD.NET cert. There hasn't been, to my knowledge,
any verification, either on MS's Train/Cert. site nor on
this board (particularly from any of the MS folks), of a
new C++ exam. And actually since the most recent thread
regarding this was this week, I thought somebody on here
might be interested in this related bit.

Mmm....good point. It doesn't indicate on that page when
it was last updated. But if you notice the
anticipated "live" dates of the three C# exams (June and
Sept of *2003* - only a year off!), my guess is that you
are correct - that this page hasn't been updated to be in
sync with the actual training and certification plans.

My bad.

I think that my answer was a bit unpolite, but wasn't my intention...
Sorry...

Anyway, on the MCSD FAQ Microsoft says that plans about exams based on C++
and J# are expected to be released soon after the release of Visual Studio
..NET 2003...

Paulo

Is there a good book on Managed C++ ??
I would like to read about how exactly the Managed C++ is different from C++
in VS6.
I have a lot of experience with C# and the old C++ in visual studio 6 but
would like to exploit the new features of Managed C++.
Thanks,
Glenn

Professional UML Modelling using VS.NET: Unmasking Visio for Enterprise
Architects (Paperback)

The C++ book got 5 start rave reviews.

I'm not interested in the near future to approach this exam. I got the MCAD
and waiting for the results for 71-300 and hopefully I'm MCSD.NET. I just
need to pass 215 and get MCDBA and this is it with MS certification.

I prefer to spend time taking the IBM UML exam and then maybe I will try the
IEEE certification.

Too bad the Rational certifications are only for partner companies.

I take the 300 next month for the MCSD.
I already did the MCSE and MCDBA.
The 300 will be my last test for a long time.
The reading and studying will continue though of course.

I sure wish I could afford a copy of Rational software.

Good luck with 70-300! I really enjoyed the beta exam even it was pretty
long (about 5 hours).

I do not have the Rational software and I cannot afford but I've heard that
they have a certification related to OOA/OOD and UML principles and this is
what I would be interested in.

If I will ever need to work with Rational or Vision or other tool I'm pretty
sure I can learn very fast.

I played with the evaluation version about two years ago.

I used to use Rational Rose as part of a large Smalltalk project. It is very
good.
I am still figuring out VS Architect and Visio. Doesn't look as nearly as
good.

Well, stated...

I saw it last time on November, but now I can't see it anymore...

It was here: http://www.microsoft.com/traincert/mcp/mcsd/faq.asp

Cheers...

I use VS Ent. Architect with Visio for EA.

I already tried Rational XDE Professional for .NET Developers. I can say
that Rational's software is much more complete, with lot of cool functions,
but maybe I'm a bit obsolete, but I can't use all it's features.

I use Visio for EA to model software on UML and to model databases with ORM.
Usually, databases I create using the tools provided by Visio, but C# code I
prefer to create by hand. The only "advanced" tool that I use is the reverse
engineering.

Due to what I use I decided that Visio is pretty good for me. I can't and
wont afford Rational's solution because it costs too much and is really
heavy. Visio could be simpler, but it's already included in the VS Ent.
Architects and is much lighter in system resources.

Just my two cents... :-)

I received the C++ book today that you referred me to by R. Grimes.
I have browsed it and will read it several times, I am sure.
Great pointer Danut.
I appreciate it.
