| Why not focus more on questions testing if a guy really know his programming
language, the windows programming model, how to use windows messages and test
whether they know what technologies are available to use, basic use of them,
and where to use them,
Instead of making them remember how to implement advanced
features,functions with technologies like COM,ADO
and so on. Like error checking on aggregated objects, aggregation etc.,
advanced database error handling.
I mean, why is this exam called a Visual C++ exam, it doesn't really test
much whether u know the C++ language,or know the windows program structure,
It just tests whether u know your way around in VC++ studio IDE and advanced
features on specific microsoft technologies that is not used that much.
Whats the point in that??
If a programmer has taken the time to learn the C++ language, he would
certainly know how to
navigate around in the Visual Studio enviroment, but it's not at all certain
that he's explored all the advanced
features of technologies like COM,ADO, just because he knows programming the
windows platform.
Your book "Desktop Applications with Microsoft VC++ 6.0" Traning Kit, cover
about 50%-60% of the stuff you really need to know on this test. A lot of
ADO, Microsoft Transaction Server, Microsoft SQL server, database and COM
related stuff wasn't even referenced or in this book..
Why is that?? Isn't this book written specifically for this exam (70-016)?
What do u REALLY have to know about COM,Microsoft Transaction
Server,Microsoft SQL Server and
database to be prepared on this specific exam??? Any References? Books??

| Okay this is an interesting question and in a way I agree. These days all
the Microsoft exams concentrate on the product - in this case MS VC++ so you
should consider that you won't get a whole bunch of questions on pure C++.
That said though you can take it for granted that it will also include other
technologies like ADO, VSS and the like but I felt that these were more
questions simply about ADO, VSS etc. rather than these technologies from the
viewpoint of VC++. I don't think MTS or SQL server are skills measured on
the 70-016 track. They would be on the 70-015 track. I agree wholeheartedly
about the book - some guy once posted that it was the only book he used and
had essentially no experience with the product so I wonder how he did that
precisely. In fairness you do need to know about COM and ATL, if you haven't
used them then you haven't met the requirements of the exam.
