I'm going to prepare 700-229, but don't have SQL Server 2K software at
hand,
there are so many MCSD guys around here, do you guys all have access
to SQL server 2K ?

Thanks!

SQL Server is pretty common in a biz environment. If you have some
Microsoft development tools you may have MSDE at least (but that lacks the
graphical tools of full SQL Server).

As a last resort you could always use Access 2000 (which is basically MSDE).

You can download the eval copy for free from the Microsoft site.

Not to mention a number of the features such as partitioned views &
indexed views

Features many, many people do not ever use. Certainly don't need to ever
use them to pass the exam. Good study materials ARE required however.

>Features many, many people do not ever use

Really, so why did so many company's update from 7 to 200 enterprise?
It certainly was not because it was cheap, as the upgrade price was
scandalous. Partitioned & index views was high on the list of why
companies did not stick with seven, along with the many other features
' many people do not ever use'.

> Certainly don't need to ever use them to pass the exam.

For the exam you need to know about these features and how and when to
(or not) use them (i.e. you would not want to put an index view on
frequently updated tables). If you have used the features, you will
understand enough to gain points in the exam, if not it becomes a
matter of memorizing facts which you my not be able to relate too
(understand). A good example is replication, which is quite tough to
get your head around, but you have done it (and got things working
right!), it all seems so easy.

> Good study materials ARE required however.

If you work with the product day in day out, 'study materials' are not
that important. You also realize just how good bol are.

You can order and get an evaluation version of SQL Server 2000 or download
it from here.
http://www.microsoft.com/sql/evaluation/trial/
The CD costs $7.95 + shipping and handling.

That's correct - Inside SQL Server 2000 comes with a 120-day evaluation
copy.

The timing of this thread is great. Just today, for attending the
Visual Studio Launch Event, I got my Win.NET Beta3 and -- SQL Server
2000 120-day evaluation (and other goodies!)

That launch was what...3 months ago?
