Hey all,
Right now I'm studying to get my MCSA so I will be able
to administer networks and systems.

I've also gotten a recent interest in developing .Net
solutions. This feeling will not leave me be. It's so
strong that I went out and got visual basic .net deluxe
training edition and I've been reading and learning like
a mad man (i even look foward to studying this stuff when
I get home?!)

What I want to do is still administer networks as my main
career path, but I also want to develop solutions for
any problems I may come across as well. Is this plan
viable or am I wasting my time?

Thanks, any help is greatly appreciated!

It's funny you should mention this; I want to learn (much) more about
networking, but for me it's because I want to be a better programmer.

There's value in being broad, and value in being deep. Unless you
work in a small company and have a chance to "do it all," I don't see
being able to do both in the same position as a likelihood.

But in a small company...maybe.

And can it hurt you? Heck no! About the only way I can see it
hurting you is if an employer gets the mistaken impression that you
want to program instead of administrate, and they don't want/need
that.

My guess is that it can only help you.
