| Why take both 70-316 and 70-315 ? I thought that only one
of them could be taken for MCAD and/or MCSD
certification. Am I wrong?
Thanks

| Both can be taken together for the MCAD.
That combination would also need the 320 for the MCAD.
This is the combination I a working on.
Why take both??
I am more interested in those two than other electives like 229 etc.

You are wrong. Only one is required for the MCAD certification, but the
other can count toward MCAD as an elective. And they're both required for
the .Net version of MCSD.
You may be confusing these two with 70-316 and 70-306. Those only count once
toward MCAD or MCSD. Same for 315 and 305. The unfortunate reason for doing
both anyway is to simplify working with someone like a recruiting agency who
may filter candidates who have not passed the exam for a particular
language.

| Thanks. I realize now I was getting 70-306 confused with
70-315. Apparently, you are not allows to take the VB.NET
AND the C#.NET windows-based exams both for certification
credit for an MCAD or MCSD. It's one or the other.

| Yet another opinion about pure .NET certification.
I can't imagine how a person is able to deal with development without have
more then general knowledge about SQL.
I have 10+ years of C++ experience. Besides having MCAD I took both 70-228
and 70-229 and at my job they know I'm their expert in T-SQL. They had me
rewrite some of the slowest stored procedures and I was able to improve the
performance up to 10 times in some cases, fix many deadlocks and lots of
other issue no one was able to fix them.
The more you know the better chances you have to get a good job, a raise,
etc.
Just my $0.02
