MCSD.NET Charter Menber?

| Is there a MCSD.NET Charter Member, like MCAD Charter
Menber?

Myang,
Charter memberships are given out for new credentials, like MCSA and MCAD.
These are brand new credentials that we released this year. The MCSD is not
a new credential, and while the MCSD for .NET is a new version of this
credential, there won't be a charter membership program. We will be
recognizing the first people who achieve this credential with an Early
Achiever recognition program, but not a charter membership. In anticipation
of the follow up questions, I don't know how many people we will recognize
as early achievers, but probably no less than the first 1000.

| I am assuming that there is a good chance that the first 1000 people earning
the certification (MCSD, VS.NET) will be the first 1000 passers of the beta
version, if there are that many, of course.
I wonder if the MS Cert team has plans to add additional graphics for MCSD
(.NET) vs. MCSD (VS6). There may be a sense of ambiguity concerning those
who are MCSDs of either grade. This problem also applies for MCSEs of
NT4/Win2k.
After I finish my cert in MCSD (.NET), I feel I should still include the
MCAD title just to prove to people that I passed the .NET exams too - not
just the VS6 exams.

| I totally agree with you Davin.
I mean, getting MCSD in VS6 and MCSD in .NET is very different.
Plus, getting MCSD in .NET takes 5 exams! I think we should make sure
that we mention .NET in MCSD. I'm wondering what Microsoft's guideline
is as far as the difference between them. They can't say MCSD is MCSD!

| Maybe MS should have considered another name instead of MCSD.NET
After all it is a totally new technology, it is not just a new version of
Visual Studio.

| IMNSHO, 5000 is a number way too large, make it "worth-less". The previous
MCSD charter was for the first 1000, AND Microsoft awarded VS6 training kit
to the charter members. Things are getting loosy these days. Maybe Microsoft
haven't realized that to get the .NET ball really rolling, they need attract
more worker bees.
