One more BS issue-Am I the only fool following the rules?

| I only took the C#(XML, ASP.NET) Betas and didn't take any VB.NET betas,
BECAUSE I read on the invitation letter that I suppose ONLY allowed to take
one of two free(either C# or VB.NET, not both), if anyone of you still have
the invitation letter, perhaps you could check it out for me.
But it seems MANY people took BOTH C# and VB.NET exams and get their MCAD
already, while I have to wait for C# ASP.NET result until now, and even if I
pass it, I still need take one more such as biztalk2000 to get MCAD-as I
don't have interest taking the Winform exam.

No, I think most people followed the rules, but to whine a little more about
the system, I don't believe it was actually enforced. AFAIK, many exam
taking 'rules' are not enforced (like no retakes after passing). Who are the
MANY you refer to? I don't remember seeing any posts in the newsgroups about
it.
In any case, taking both languages could not help anyone become an MCAD any
sooner. Only one would count toward anything. The first MCADs already had an
elective, like Biztalk or SQL 2000 Design, and passed the 306/316 and
310/320 betas.
BTW, MS has said that the 'one language' rule only applied to the beta.
Taking the 'other' exams won't count toward a certification, but I think I
may do it just to avoid having to explain the redundancy to someone reading
my resume or transcript. You may want to rethink taking a Winform exam since
it is required for the MCSD.Net certification.

| Anyway, I noticed a post on the threads about the last result of 305 and
315, some people mentioned he/she passed VB.NET already so no need to wait
for the C# result; another guy Atli Bjorgvin Oddsson mentioned he did C# and
VB.NET(maybe C# Winform + ASP.NET with VB.NET?)-Tim, you actually followed
his post .
One annoying fact is if the rules are not enforced, people could take
advantage of that-as the exams are mirrored in their contents.

I'm sure there were some who took advantage, and I think I actually
overlooked that apparent info in Atli's post to pay attention to his real
question. Though my selective memory is also very impressive!
Also, I believe the invitations for the 306/316 exams (and from the date I
think that's what Atli must have referred to) did NOT mention this rule, so
I'm sure there were more who did both of those. I know the rule was pretty
prominent on the later exam invitations.

Well, again, now that the beta is over, there is no rule about taking both
versions of the exams. But still, it really waters down the retake
restriction. Don't want to wait 2 weeks to retake? Just take the version for
the other language. Though I've heard there's a longstanding 'workaround'
for retakes that works for any exam.
You would think it would be trivial for MS to screen the data from beta
exams to ensure they only look at those who met the prerequisites and had
not been spoiled by exposure to the same questions for the other language,
but given all the flaws apparent in the system, but it seems similarly
trivial to have mechanisms that prevent the bad data in the first place.
