Questions on taking the first .Net exam
|
|
|
| Hi there:
I have programmed/read ASP.Net with C# for the past 6 months and I
would like to start getting ready for the 70-315. I have couple of
questions that I would really appreciate answers on:
- What are Transcenders? How do I get them and how much do they cost?
- What are Self Paced Training Kit? How I get them?
- Is the exam available yet?
- What suggestions/tips/web sites/recommendations do you guys have for
me as this would be my first exam?
Thank you, Chris

Commercial practice exams for technical certification exams. afiak, they're
the most expensive vendor, but generally regarded as the best. Find them at
www.transcender.com.
> - What are Self Paced Training Kit? How I get them?
That's a book series from MS Press with titles geared toward specific exams.
Search www.bookpool.com or www.bestbookbuys.com.
> - Is the exam available yet?
It's available September 19.

I made a collection of links that follow the exam topics here:

| Hi Tim,
Your links for Skills Being Measured are not working. I have July MSDN
Library, and still cannot open the links (ms-help).
Thanks.

Is it the US English version of MSDN? If so, selecting that from the drop
list near the top of the page should fix the links.
If not, you may need to use the 'Click here to specify an MSDN version not
listed' button and manually supply the root path for your MSDN installation.
For US English, it's "ms-help://MS.VSCC/MS.MSDNQTR.2002JUL.1033", and I
would assume the only difference would be with the 1033. You should be able
to see this path if you open any help topic in VS.Net and right click on the
page. The 'Address' property will have the URL, and you may need to select &
scroll through it to see all lines.
Please email me via the link at www.codeclinic.com/70-315skills.htm if it's
still not working, and include a copy of one of the URLs for your local help
files.

| OK Thanks. I have the US version. It is working, I just had to refresh the
page a few times.

| Hey Chris,
Just wanted to add a bit to the Transcenders question you had. A little
while ago someone else posted a message saying transcender is having a
secret sale at www.transcender.com/secret. The sale only goes until about
Thursday of next week, but it's well worth it. If you want the
transcender's this is probably the cheapest you'll find it. Btw, the 315
transcender practice exam hasn't been released yet.
Oh, I would also add www.measureup.com to the list of web sites to look at.
You get 10 questions free or you can buy it to get more. It's usually a
good place to go after you've studied and you want to make sure you know the
material. Also, check out this link: http://www.mcpmag.com/popquiz/.
There's a few questions related to exam 316, but none for 315 yet. I found
this link in a story at XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX about cheap/free practice exams:
http://www.XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX/editorial...ditorialsID=26.
Unfortunately most of them don't relate to the MCSD.NET track since it's a
fairly new cert.
Honestly, finding info on the 315 is tough...which is why I chose to start
with the 316. I'm sure there will be more posted on the web soon though.
Good luck!
-Mike
